Beautiful Architecture ...

I Really love the contrast these houses/apartments have against one another It's all very cool. And Seoul is in the heart of a Valley, so with certain images you can see the mountains centered off in the distance, very cool!!!

I felt like a total snoop taking pictures of peoples houses, but I DID tr to be discreet!

TODAY::::: 61308:::::
(well, technically 61408)

So Today I wanted to go into this book store I had walked by yesterday

온고당북

Anywho... when I got there and was going to go in, there were a bunch of people crowded around ( so I thought "Oh, maybe there's some sort of signing going on..." ; but then I noticed Cameras and people with LOTS of papers stapeled together "scripts?" I thought.... And then there were trucks and trailers and vans and such.... and I was really confused, like some other people around me... and i didn't know if it was okay if I went in or not, so I did one of those "looking around, trying act confident dances, when really you're confused as all egt out!!!!!" And then this guy, techie... IDK, looks at me and motions for me to go, (like it's okay for me to pass through I'm not interrupting a scene kinda thing)... And/But I'm still SO Confused as to whether or not I can go into this book store.... and I must have had that exact look on my face, b/c after motioning a second time, he says real loud and slow "GOOOooooooo" with an exaggerated motion of his arm, while looking and laughing at his friends.... oooOOOOOooooo he made me so upset!!!!!! So as I was walking by I said quite loudly "to myself" PABOYAEYO!! (korean = to be stupid... pabo = stupid; yaeyo = to exist/to be) I felt a teeny bit better, but I still want to go into that book store!!!!!! I've been on a HUNT for Hanguk Vogue!!!! I found one today at a much smaller book shop...... FROM March 2003! But then I took a short cut (crossing the street [they DO NOT have enough cross walks here, no sarcasm!] through the subway passage, like at Harvard <--- across from the UU church and The Yard... Inside the station, was a little news stand and I saw all these World Fashion Mags... Korean Elle Girl, Korean Teen Vogue, so I asked for Vogue and the woman pulled out THE JUNE 2008 BIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND HOLY MOLY WAS IT HEAVY!!!!!!! so I said I'd be back, there was No way Jose I was carrying that thing around with me for the next 4/5 hours... I didn;t go back YET but there's plenty of time, I will :-) hehehehe...GIDDINESS.

allrighty then I am off to bed.... I have been invited to Haelmoni's (Grandmother in korean) Birthday. I'll get to meet the rest of the family too, I'm very excited... but maybe not as much as Adjuma, she's too funny / cute :-) It's Great Being here!!!!

A Bit of Nomi in Korea (the blog I mean sillys')

Okay, so this entry has nothing really to do with Korea, but more Entirely myself. For those of you who know me well and those maybe not so well.... I LOVE Ballet! I found this on you tube and thought the footwork of the dancer was amazing and that the piece was very modern yet very artistically pleasing all at the same time. Just wanted to share. :)

Seung-Hye's playing jingle bells on piano

today I feel tired. It was a pretty good day all & all. I went to costco with adjuma. I got soy milk, that was pretty exciting. I helped Seung-Hyun with his english. Adjuma and I went to pick up Seung-Hye from school (12p) and then we went to the book store. I got two Korean activity books to work on. The placement test is coming soon, and I want to do well, so I am studying studying studying.

here are some videos I took yesterday.... Sun, well whenever I was at the Trad. Korean Village :-) Sorry for the shotty work guys, I didn't realize my video would come out sideways if I turned the camera, I also didn't realize I'd have no idea how to fix it on my mac... go figure....

So, we were walking along, and suddenly I see this little creature in a cage out of the corner of my eye. When I went over to it, It was a Chipmunk! At least it looked like a chipmunk... But it was doing a very odd little dance. It was heartbreaking yet mesmerizing all at the same time....

Aaaaand here are a few more pictures....

YAWN YAWN YAWN YAWN YAWN,,,,

Allllrighty, so we're going to work a little backwards today; as nomi has been fighting with the EVIL demon of JetLag. Not sure who the winner is yet...

Sat, June 7th 2008.....

Started the day off with
*breakfast
*studying korean
....then 승혜 came home from school `round 12:30p
(seung-hyae ^ = 6yr)

[seung-hyun =10,
in the background there]
she was very helpful with the Rosetta Stone software! then we hung out and just played around for a while

okay, so I started it.....

but Seung-hyae did it too... hehe

She even got Monkey to do it too!!
go figure... she's such a charmer ;-)

After that Seung-Hyun came home from a birthday party and we
took the bus into Seoul to see Yonsei... It took about an hour to get there. The # 1500 bus goes through some of Incheon, then onto the highway, then through the southern part of the Seoul and over the Han River. Then about 20min later, you/we get off. The bus costs 2,300 won. (<--- so for an hour longs drive, thats pretty good.) We walked a few blocks to Yonsei, it took FOREVERRRRRRRRRRRR.... we weren't quite sure where we were going once we got onto the campus, so adjuma asked a few students and they pointed us in various directions. needless to say we went the Long way...!!! click on Taxi to see the way we WALKED (p.s. ALL HILLS) and click on Bus to see the way I'm NOW going to be going, lol.

After we had our Yonsei Adventure, everyone was Hungry. We took a Taxi (the bus was slow) to the Hyundai department store and went to the 9th floor to have lunch/snack. I just need to say that it is Very hard for a Vegetarian / "forced" Vegan to find something to eat easily. It took a little while but but I finally found some Fresh orange juice, a muffin and duk-bok-gi

see?

We walked to the bus stop (a few blocks) after we ate and I took some pictures of the buildings around us....

Okay, I guess that's only one picture....

OH MY GOSH!!!!! I ALMOST FORGOT!!!! when we were at the dept. store I saw something I've Never seen before!!!!!!!!!!!

i dont know if youre going to be able to see this,
but to the left of the toilette there is a small box,
flush to the wall, that reads "press to make flushing
sound
" Now, I dunno about you.... but to me that
kinda insinuates, public discretion of disencumbering
innards. (<--- if you know what I'm saying) ::And IF that is what it is, I personally think it's
a Grand Idea:: END THOUGHT

ok ok, so I did my research (just now actually) and I suppose I am not the only one who has witnessed this "flushing sound phenomena" see...

okie dokie, I woke up at 3am and wrote b/c I couldnt sleep. I'm going to post some pictures I took when we were at the Korean Traditional Village but then bed.

I'm herrrrrrrre

Hello Everyone. I have made it to korea safely and sound. Kyung's family was waiting for me when I finally got my bags and made it through customs.
I guess you could say it "looks" justlike the US over here, but you definitely get that "I'm in another country" feel like you would any place I suppose. I slept for most of the plane flight. I watched the Spiderwick Chronicles, that was alright. I talked with the young man sitting next to me and he was very nice too.
The first meal I had here was naeng-myun (냉면)

남자 진구's favorite (sometimes):-) It's a cold noodle dish, sometimes spicy, sometimes not so much. Mine had small thinly sliced cucumbers, asian pear and another veg. I cannot remember. I am trying hard to use only 한국어!!! (<--korean) [han-guk-oh] (word of the day) but it is not so-so easy. Adjuma (kyungs aunt) speaks a little bit of english, so does her son. But it's good to be puching myself. I am a bit ok a lot (but slooooowly hitting me) Jet Lagged. So I will leave you with a video I made a short while ago and images of my June room.... :-)
